Good way to check if you car exterior needs a detail is to run your hand across the paint after a wash. If it feels rough or like sand paper then you have to decontaminate the paint. Like booking our mobile car detailing service your process should be simple. You will start from the top and work your way down to the bottom of the car. Because there is more dirty at the bottom. Washing under then over increases the risk of scratching so don't do it.
Clean your wheels first with standalone brushes.
Spray and presoak the car in foam but don't let the foam dry under the sun. This can cause damage.
Rinse the foam off then use soft microfibers or sponge with a bucket of car designated soap water to hand wash the vehicle.
Rinse the car again after hand washing.
This is optional but you can spray foam again for lubrication and use automotive claybar to remove deep contaminants.
This is optional but you can spray a sealant or protection that is activated by rinsing. This takes the least amount of labor.
Rinse the car to activate the protection, you should see water bead up and fall off easily.
Since the water falls off easily, you can blow dry most of it off and finish with a drying towel.
Last thing to do would be to wipe and clean the door jambs.
Remember never let any chemical, including water dry on your car. Because it will cause damage.
